Declining fortunes?
So, it's like 2 weeks before I (nick) leave my warm, cruisy comfort zone and enter the cold, potentially, dangerous - yet exciting - world of you rope. But this morning i woke to slightly demoralising (ok, more then slightly demoralising) headlines like "Dollar hits fresh low, nears US60c".
I have known (and loudly complained) about the declining fortunes of the battling aussie currency for some time, but i have assumed and hoped that it would 'bounce back' and all would be well.
But, on this sad day, I thought i would document the tradgic, heart breaking story of a true Aussie battler: the Australian Dollar. I use the AUD vs USD mainly because the fall is way more dramatic, but there are similar falls vs Euro, Yen, pound... even the New Zealand dollar!!!
Part One: The beginning - A new hope?
January 08': AUD could buy around 87 American cents. (At this point travel wasn't even on the cards, but hey, a strong Aussie dollar at least gave me options!)
March: AUD hovers around 93 American cents. (I couldn't help but be a bit excited... we couldn't possible reach parity though... could we?!)
Part Two: The hearty advance
May: AUD reaches 95 American cents.
July: A high of 97!?!?!?! (Ok, so at this point i'll admit, i was feeling a little cocky, a little smug - "Good thinking on a Euro-trip Nick!)
Part Three: The crushing fall
September: 85... (oh well, it's still pretty damn good)
Mid September: 72. shit (It can't get much worse... right?)
Today: 60. fu...damn (deep breaths)
Okok, it could be worse - The Euro could have crashed from it's high of like 60 euro cents (woo!) to like 20 or something...
But still, it's some pretty bad luck.
It's probably better to just not think about it... right? right.
I mean, there's still a few weeks, who knows, everything might be better... by... then... maybe.
As they say, what goes down must go up... or something like that.
Nick.

Timqth on the run.
I was just in my sister’s room. She was sitting on the floor going through her photos from Europe. I was sitting on her bed reading her new copy of Frankie (good magazine, if there was a guy version I’d probably buy it. But I would never buy Frankie, that’s a bit fruity). Anyways as Taking Back Sunday came from the speakers I stumbled across an article that was written by a girl who fell in love with a dude on her plane and fantasized the flight away and then the plane landed and he got off and she never saw him again. Then I got a message from Kaleb saying he was going to drop round for a bit. It was nice.
So the whole article/lauralookingatphotos got me uper uper (super duper without the s and d) excited for Yourope. It is one month and one day till I go and like two weeks till tricky and fanman go. I actually got excited about the plane trip over. I saw my own lover sitting a few rows ahead of me in the right hand isle. She’s going to have big reading glasses and white as spiky, frizzed out hair that’s perfectly done but as the flight goes on it’s going to look worse and worse and then by the end of the flight it’ll be all greasy and gross but I’ll love her even more. And while I’m suspended hundreds of meters in the air, going on crazy adventures with this mystery girl you will be going “I wonder what Timqth is up to”.
To help answer your questions I’m taking my video camera. This way I can film stuff, come back home and make a super awesome video. The downside is you don’t get to see what I am thinking. Which also has its positives, but it means the plane trip will be super exciting for me, but real boring for you. So if you really want the full plane trip experience then by a ticket on my flight and we’ll sit together and make up the life of me and mystery girl. Then we can snuggle in the movie.
Timqth.

The first real post.
Unfortunately i (trick/nick) don't have anything to top the photos of good ol' Jeremy or the ones of me entering my notorious 'fat stage', but i did buy my pack today...
Exciting stuff hey...
It feels so real now that i am holding the gear that will keep me trekking for the next few months -- but before we even get there, there is still exams, the dreaded french orals and all the last annoying, expensive preparations.
I didn't really have anything to say, just had to balance the blog so that it wasn't dominated by all of nafan's lack of capitals and general punctuation .
On that note, back to french.

The Genesis of 'Trois Grands Garçons'
'Trois Grands Garçons'
'le' fanman feat. jen who is in the bottom right and also in europe right now.
Trick. gay lover himself and collector of gay lovers.
It's a monday night. exactly 'trois' weeks and one day till nick and I depart. I just made the first rule that whoever writes the blog uses their own perspective. so it is therefore necessary to state herewith that this is fanman, possibly 'le grandest' of them all. lol.
The other 'Grands Garçons' are timqth and trick which we found out means 'gay lover' in french. an apt nickname no doubt.
Earlier today i had to tell work that i was leaving and i was quite worried. partly because this trip means change. i may come back different with different values from my different experiences. i may have to find a different job. in some capacity, we will all be changed.
Some things i hope dont change. like the girls in AU. there are a number who i know we'll all miss. I still haven't organised everything about yourope yet. like accomodation and clothing and that.
lol we're just going through school photos and we saw one of this boy from our class and we're seriously laughing to pain. and we're going to scan in a couple just for fun.
until next time fans. this is 'le' fanman out.
oh and i also wrote the music to one of our video menus. wew
